Shaina McCoy finds universality in the intentional absence of facial features. The lack of definition in these gestural works invites personal interpretation. Viewers are able to place their own memories within McCoy’s featureless figures.

McCoy began painting while studying at the Perpich Center for Arts Education (Golden Valley, MN) in 2012. McCoy graduated with an Associate of Arts from Minneapolis Community and Technical College in 2018. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at Ever Gold [Projects] (San Francisco, CA), Gildar Gallery (Denver, CO), Art4Shelter (Minneapolis, MN). Her first solo exhibition A Family Affair was held at Ever Gold [Projects].
