Shaniqwa Jarvis (b. New York, NY) is a Los Angeles–based artist celebrated for merging contemporary fashion aesthetics with sensitive, emotionally resonant portraiture. Her multidisciplinary practice spans photography, textiles, painting, and collage, guided by intuition and an ongoing conversation with memory, lineage, and lived experience. Through layered processes, her work explores resilience and identity, creating a space where the personal and ancestral converge while engaging questions of spectatorship.

Jarvis has exhibited internationally in London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, and Amsterdam. Her exhibitions include Only Love Can Break Your Heart; If You Could See My Thoughts, You Would See Your Faces; Sleep to Dream; and Everywhere You Go, There You Are. Her photographic practice is also represented in her books Shaniqwa Jarvis and Guts, which draw from her extensive archive and ongoing exploration of portraiture, memory, and identity. Her work has been presented at the Hammer Museum and OSCAM and is held in the permanent collections of the Hammer Museum, MOCA, and LACMA.
