Artist Bio

Aya Brown

Brooklyn-based artist, Aya Brown (b. 1996) harnesses the power within her creative practice to capture the depth and beauty of Black womanhood and sisterhood.

With an interest in heightening the visibility of Black and brown queer women, Brown is a part of a landscape of innovative artists redefining the creative world and industries around them. Her creative medium has become an expression of her love and cares for her community.

Deviating from traditional materials, Brown adopted the use of brown craft paper – coupled with colored pencils and soft pastels – to create works of art inspired by the essentiality of the black women who often go misrepresented.
