About the Exhibition:
Anthony Gallery is proud to announce LAMBÓN, a new exhibition of seen and unseen work from the renowned photographer and director Renell Medrano.
The exhibition marks the artist’s first hometown presentation in over five years, bringing together work from her editorial portfolio alongside previously unseen personal projects. Forever inspired by her Dominican roots and upbringing in the Bronx, Medrano has carved her own path through her raw and unapologetic documentary photography. Through her lens, familiar scenes in music, fashion, and everyday life are reinvigorated, bringing a powerful sense of place and identity to the forefront. Her subjects are more than icons— they become reflections of an authentic world that is as unique as it is universal.
In LAMBÓN, viewers experience Medrano’s career in a new light. Her keen ability to convey cultural identity is palpable throughout the program. Whether she trains her focus on international idols or everyday objects, Medrano uses each frame to uplift a story. No matter how big or small her subjects may be, she celebrates the beauty and complexity of the human experience through the act of documentation.
LAMBÓN will be open to the public at WSA New York from October 4 through November 3, 2024.
