Takehisa Goto’s ceramic practice draws on a rich blend of traditional techniques and cross-cultural experiences, honed through formal education and apprenticeships across Japan, Sweden, and Denmark. With a foundation in Musashino Art University and further studies at Capellagården, Goto’s approach is deeply rooted in craftsmanship while embracing an experimental mindset. His time working under renowned ceramicists, including Naoto Yano and Morten Løbner Espersen, has shaped his sensitivity to materiality and form. Now based in Shigaraki, a historical center of Japanese ceramics, Goto’s work explores the intersection of nature, function, and the meditative process of creation. Each piece is a reflection of his commitment to honoring tradition while pushing the boundaries of contemporary ceramics.
