Website: -
Born in Orlando, Florida, but raised in north Georgia, Sydnie Jimenez draws on scenes from her upbringing as points of inspiration. Centering her work around the representation of black/brown youth and self-expression, Jimenez’s art acts as an act of protest and resistance. The artist intentionally works to protect herself and empowering the community to engage in healthy self-care practices. Her ceramic paintings mirror the youth of the communities she’s grown up with and experienced throughout her lifetime. Jimenez’s art is liberating, paying tribute to the people in her life emphasizing youthful, punk, and rebellious styles – while also critiquing a Eurocentric society founded on white supremacy and colonization. She received a BFA from SAIC (2020) focusing on ceramic sculpture.
