Liza Jo Eilers
Liza Jo Eilers (b. 1993, St. Paul, MN) employs painting, collage, sculpture, and found objects to explore the double-stake of popular culture’s portrayal of women—how it both resists and reinforces dominant ideals and values. Her work questions not only what we see today but, more importantly, how these modes of seeing have become intertwined with cultural and national identity, confronting the failures and aftermath of American culture. Fascinated by modes of entertainment, she wonders what it means to have a good time, who is a good time, and for whom is the good time.
Recent solo exhibitions include Grove, London, UK; Material Room, Richmond, VA; SULK CHICAGO, Chicago, IL; and Rainbo Club, presented by M. LeBlanc, Chicago, IL.
She lives and works in Chicago, IL.
