Artist Bio
Kent Merriman Jr.
Calgary-based artist Kent Merriman Jr. (b. 1985, Calgary, AB) is known for his extraordinary trompe l’oeil paintings that blur the line between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. Often evoking elements of urban decay and the passage of time, his artworks challenge viewers’ perceptions of reality through their meticulous detail and lifelike qualities.
Merriman graduated with a BFA in painting from the Alberta College of Art + Design in 2013. Since then, his work has been exhibited across Canada and the United States, including notable solo exhibitions at TrépanierBaer in Calgary and Bel Ami in Los Angeles. Today, he continues to push the boundaries of his practice, exploring themes of memory and transformation.
