Born in Kyoto, Japan in 1988, the artist En Iwamura was influenced by both parents who were painters. At such a young age he grew up in an artistic environment, which informed the trajectory of the career path he would pursue.

After graduating with a BFA in crafts at the Kanazawa College of Art and Crafts in 2011, his interest in the international art world grew.

He began to consider ceramic as the potential medium that could have the power to speak international languages to global audiences – forming relationships between viewers across cultures, peoples, and countries. He went on to continue his education receiving an MFA from the Kanazawa College of Art and Craft in 2013 and a second MFA from Clemson University in 2016.
