Eddie Martinez’s (b. 1977, Groton, CT) dense, polychrome paintings are beloved for their charged presence and aggressive use of color. Guided by intuition, his mark marking is both urgent and considerate, employing various combinations of oil, enamel, spray paint, and collage to craft dynamic compositions that blur the lines between painting and drawing. Resulting compositions are aggressive while maintaining a delicate formal balance—a dichotomy made possible by the artist’s keen aesthetic sensibilities.

Martinez seamlessly blends abstraction and representation, testing and repeating signature elements in an endless process of conceptual renewal.
